The Education Committee undertook three major initiatives in the month of March with the intention of creating meaningful connections.
Here’s a closer look at each initiative and how they have made a lasting impact on our members and the broader community.
COMMUNITY CARE & SUPPORT IN ACTION - Education Committee Hamper Distribution Effort
We at WCU see it as our duty to support and uplift our members at every stage of life. With its dedication to fostering education, outreach and service, our Education Committee is leading the way forward, with the understanding that making a positive impact goes beyond financial services.
Which is why the Committee recently came together to organize a Hamper Distribution Drive on Friday March 21st, 2025 at all five Works Credit Union branch locations nationwide. Through the help of our Branch Supervisors, the Committee was able to identify members in need of extra support.
In total, thirty-five (35) members received hampers filled with essential items in the hopes of making a real difference in their daily lives – making this initiative one of which we can be particularly proud.
ENGAGING & EMPOWERING OUR COMMUNITY - Liaison Officer Outreach & Recruitment Drive
The WCU Liaison Officer Network was out in full force as the Ministry of Works and Transport and its State Agencies is hosted its Sports and Family Day at Skinner Park, San Fernando on Saturday March 22nd, 2025.
Our Liaison Officers, who serve as in-house liaisons at various ministries and organizations, engaged with event attendees providing insightful information about the credit union's products, services, and policies. From answering questions to distributing literature, the team worked diligently to ensure that those present left with a deeper understanding of the benefits of credit union membership and how it could improve their financial well-being.
Their outreach efforts resulted in a significant number of potential new sign-ups – with over 150 individuals indicating their interest in joining our Credit Union family thereafter. The success of the activity reinforces WCU’s commitment to accessibility and community growth.
GATHERING IN GRATITUDE – Midstreamers Club Annual Thanksgiving Service
Continuing in their annual tradition, the WCU Midstreamers Club, under the patronage of the Education Committee and the counsel of the Board of Directors, hosted the 2025 Thanksgiving Service, on Saturday March 22nd at St Margaret’s Anglican Church in Belmont.
Themed “Overflowing with Gratitude” the service provided the wider membership with an opportunity to gather and express their appreciation for the role the Credit Union and its accomplishments played in their lives over the course of the previous year.
As always, the service served as a welcome reminder that our organization is defined by our shared success and experiences. and that the bonds we build through collaboration, trust, and mutual support are the foundation of our collective achievements.
