Celebrating Our Young Achievers
The Student Excellence Awards Program remains a cornerstone of the Credit Union’s commitment to youth development. Under the patronage of the Education Committee the program focuses on recognizing and rewarding the academic success of our young members while supporting their continued educational advancement.
In 2025 , a total of 36 academic grants were awarded under the program, distributed as follows:
- 25 S.E.A. Scholarships – presented to students entering secondary school, based on their performance in the recently concluded Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) Examinations.
- 10 Continuing Bursaries – awarded to students in Forms 1 through 4 and Lower 6, who maintained a cumulative grade average of 75% and above for the academic year under review.
- 1 Tertiary Education Grant – awarded to a deserving student pursuing studies at the tertiary level.
While this year did not feature the traditional day-long interactive workshop, the Education Committee hosted a special certificate presentation to celebrate the achievements of recipients. Each awardee also received a copy of Robert Kiyosaki’s “ Rich Dad, Poor Dad” - widely acclaimed as a foundational resource for developing a forward-thinking, financially literate mindset from an early age.
The presentation was marked by a brief photo session with recipients and their parents or guardians, capturing moments of pride and accomplishment. Members of the Education Committee were present to personally distribute certificates, including Committee Convenor, Director Camevel Cova Blenman , along with Director Kwame Sealey , Sharmaryah Simone , and Leslie-Ann Williams .
Though more modest in format this year, the essence of the program - encouraging excellence, responsibility, and future-focused growth - remains unchanged. Through initiatives like the Student Excellence Awards, the Credit Union continues to invest in the potential of its youngest members and, by extension, the future of the community.
